No additional deer tags?

I just called the MNR and there are no additional doe seals for WMU 87. Apparently this year is pretty slim for extra tags across the board! Mild winter last year, seen lots of deer around this summer...what's going on? Hugely disappointing.

The Ministry has probably decided to actually read the deer population stats from the last few years, is my assessment. Judging by the yields of late in many areas, it is warranted.

You should probably post this in the hunting section, however I also hunt in 87 and I have my buck/doe tag and I should easily get my controlled tag as well.

I also hunt with 4 others with the same tags so if we take more than one we just share tags. Hopefully we fill them all this year.

Ah crud, sorry, wrong section. I have been able to go to Service Ontario ever year to buy additional doe seals...but not this year. Nuts!

If there are no additional tags/ seals to be handed out your antler less/buck bow hunt tag if used during the bow hunt is your 1 and only deer. You can still hunt in the controlled hunt but you won't be able to get an extra seal to tag a deer. Applying for the controlled hunt does not get you an extra deer seal on the tag that says you can hunt in the controlled hunt.

You are wrong. You only get one deer license a year per outdoors card number unless you go Into service Ontario or the Area MNR office and purchase additional seals through them and since there are no additional seals this year you are entitled to only one deer in any of the open seasons.

This is where people get confused. A Tag is not a deer seal it is only a permit allowing you to hunt in that specific hunt or for an antler less deer in bow season.

Right. But that seal that comes with my license is buck only. We are drowning in does and I can only take a buck? Grumblegrumble...

You are wrong. The controlled only validates your tag to hunt in the controlled season

First time in probably close to 10 years since there were additional bow tags in 2 of the WMU's I hunt. And haven't seen the numbers this year I usually do.
