Hey guys, just got back from the NWT. We had a Caribou up with TNS. Not much for Caribou, but we did get this

We saw a 100 Caribou the first day, then NOTHING for the rest of the week.

Dad and I had a fantastic time together. We walked a ton and saw a part of this country I didnt know if I would ever see.
It was most defiantly a adventure

After getting discouraged late one afternoon we decided to head to a bay that was suppose to have Arctic Grayling in it… Once again no fish, no caribou. BUT Dad sees a flash followed by a splash off of a small island. We make our way over to see what it was…. Guess what… a good sized Wolverine. I would tell you guys more, but it wasn’t all that interesting, we waited for him to hit shore and both Dad and I blasted him at the same time. I don’t think we could have timed the shots better. I didn’t even know he had shot but the fact I am now deaf in my right ear proves that he did. We both decided to shoot knowing that he had about 4 feet before he hit the heavy brush once he came out of the water. One of the bullets actually staid in the chest cavity. Unfortunately, the Taxi guy found it and then he lost it. I am glad we both killed him together. It seemed kind of fitting that we should. We are having a life sized mount done with Habitat from up there including a bleached skull that we found and real Granite Boulders. It will then sit on a Pedestal with a Curio cabinet underneath that has a glass door and native crafts filling it. I am hoping this will come out more like a work of art than just a mount.

Sounds like your wolverine will be cool when you get it back from the taxidermist. Too Bad the caribou didn't work out, but I'm sure it was worth the trip.

Thanks for sharing.

Time with family in the woods, and an adventure to boot! Priceless!

Sounds like you have a great mount in mind for that wolverine, nice to see.

Were you in search of a big racked bull? I remember on my first caribou hunt in northern Quebec, it was strongly advised to take down the first (of 2 allowed) animal we saw for meat and then patiently wait it out for a big bull.

Thanks for the bit on the wolverine. ;)

Jamie, great pics and story ... where were you in the NWT? Was he a nasty wee bugger before you shot him? Cheers,

Fall Guy, I was really interested in those white manes. But unfourtunatly, we didnt even get the chance to be picky. I think there were more Tundra Grizz spotted than herds of Caribou. I think we blew all our luck on the Wolverine. Cool trophy and a great adventure.
Thanks for all the comments guys
