no end of trouble with 223 sizing die

Take a good look at your cases after they have been sized in this die. Do they have a "burnished" look to them? That is a satiny look, rather than a nice, shiny, very smooth surface where the die has swaged them back to dimension. If the burnished look is apparent, the die is damaged, and will continue to give you problems. Just package it up with a short note and ship it back to RCBS. They will send you a brand new die without any squawks at all. Regards, Eagleye.

Yes I think it does that . Almost looks like a pressure ring at the base where the sizing ends.

Look at the markings on the die. Does it say 223 Rem SB????

If so, you have a small base die. Great to work with IF you have a small chamber. Otherwise, you are cramming too much case into the die with too little lube and it is just getting stuck.

Dies vary in size just like chambers. A min spec die sizing max spec brass is going to be a tough fit. Is it hard to resize?

No they don't have the SB on them. Tommorrow they are in the mail to RCBS.

My guess is also lube. Happened to me before too with 30-06 casings.

So far I find .223 the easiest casing to resize...shouldn't take much effort at all.

I use home made lube now. 5 parts 99% isopropyl alcohol mixed with 1 part lanolin. Works great.
