No guide rod screws in my 597?

I bought a Remington 597 barreled action from a site sponsor awhile back, and later found a stock and trigger group to complete it. When I took it out to test fire it, it wouldn’t eject anything. Upon closer inspection, the extractor was missing. Well that should be an easy fix right? I found a fancy Volquartsen extractor on the EE and tonight I finally took the rifle apart to make it right. YouTube videos showed me to remove the screws at the back of the receiver to remove the guide rods. Ummm, I have no screws. It looks like the guide rods were pressed in. I went and grabbed my OTHER 597, and it turns out that one does in fact have screws. Help? How do i take this rifle apart now?

Maybe post some pictures? The link didn't work but I'm assuming those are the pictures.

If it was new when you bought it, and not a used item, I'd contact them and send it back.

I'd say you're hooped.
Some more pictures might be helpful of the underside to see maybe how this was done.
Or send it to a gunsmith.
Perhaps those are plugs over the screw heads? Why? I don't know, but used stuff always has some quirks.

Kinda looks like it was welded and then put on a grinder to clean up.

Have you tried needle nose pliers with some tape and pull on the guide rods?

Maybe you'll have to drill out those plugs and then drill and tap for larger diameter set screws to re plug the holes. I bet with some cursing, fine pliers, and a nail or pin you could install the extractor with the bolt locked back and not even disassemble it haha.

I can’t say I have ever seen one like that before... those screws are very torque sensitive too, If you tighten them too much the rifle will work like garbage. I always just went hand tight and it worked great.

Someone probably stripped the threads for the grub screws, drilled them out and pressed in a steel plug.

looks like somebody filed off the tops of the screws after installing different ones, doesn't look like welds

Center drill and try an easy out would be my guess with out actually seeing it in person ?
