Too bad these couldn't be imported (at least not in their current form)
There's about a gazillion of them around the world

"The plant would seek to increase exports and step up hunting rifle production in the meantime"

Hmm, sounds to me like they're gonna flood the US domestic market. Too bad we can't get in on the action.

everything comes to the end eventually :(
Izhmash will maintain production of civilian AK versions "Saiga" series in various calibers as well as SMG "Vityaz" in 9x19 luger.

Meh, it's just another black, shiny, mean lookin' toy that I want, but can't afford, anyways.:D:)

Lol it's kind of funny that nobody in Russia want to tell grandpa Kalashnikov that the army won't purchase anymore AK:

"We do not want to take it upon ourselves to tell him," an unnamed member of his family told Russia's Izvestia newspaper."It might kill him."

Well, from the sounds of it they just aren't buying any more until the AK-200 enters production, not halting production altogether.

The Russian army says it is halting orders of the famous Kalashnikov assault rifle until a newer model is developed by its manufacturer.

So Mikhail could very well still be supplying rifles to Moscow.

Wonder what might come down the pipe..? A new "AK-X", that might be able to be submitted for an FRT due to a new design, possibly..?

Maybe just maybe the valmet hunter will be produced and sold here?? Then they might not be "valued" at what? $5000 each? No wait, let me guess, import ban?

I'd be interested in one of those in 7.62x25 tokarev and set up to use PPS 43 mags, but sadly, the variant mess will keep that from happening...
