Ok I have a bit of a dilemma. I purchased a handgun in March, got the transfer and was sent the gun with the notice that registration paper would follow. I have yet to receive those registration papers.

A gun i purchased in February had registration papers sent within a couple of weeks.

The dilemma is sine it is not registered I cannot take it anywhere but the other side of it is since it is not registered no one really "knows" about it if the gestapo come looking.

I know I should really get it legally registered, so how do I go about doing that? Who do I contact?

You got ypur transfer paper confirming the registration. Legality is taken care off.
Call Miramichi…or check on RCMP site for replacement of document.

yes I think the legality on my part may be covered but I don’t think it is legal to take it to the range without the registration papers. I can imagine that miramachi is pretty busy with registrations now. Have one more hg in the system waiting for transfer so will wait until that clears and then give them a call.

You’re correct, you can’t take it to the range without the certificate. There’s going to be delays getting these for sure…

Calling Miramichi just clogs up the call lines and makes it harder for guys trying to initiate and complete transfers.

In this day and age. I don't get why they don't email the registration. Get a email saying it's approved with the registration number on it already.

I’m pretty sure once you get that email transfer notification, the gun is now registered to your name.
You just have to wait for the paper registration paper.
If you get caught by LEO who’s having a bad day, without the Reg paper , you have 14 days to produce one.
After that… who knows.

It is as important for him to get his certificate than a transfer..clogging lines..common..he has the right like anybody to get his matter fixed.

Getting his certificate won’t come any faster calling the CFC than waiting for it. If it would be faster we’d all be calling daily as there’s thousands of us waiting for certificates…

Stop arguing. He did not even done anything right now to get a replacement.
Yes he will get another one by calling Miramichi.
I know, I have done it. They are the one issuing them.

You are not the one calling..so why do you care ? it is his problem and he is asking for a way forward. He got the right info now.

He never received it. He should not have to pay $10 to get one with form 5515, but it is his choice.

So you purchased a gun in March, but you saying it isn't registered? If you had to call in and was given a reference number. Then it is registered. unfortunately the CFP is probably swamped and way behind printing the reg card.

I guess you have a reading comprehension problem. The OP didn’t say he need a replacement, he said he was still waiting for the original, lol

Aren’t you the one that proudly said “if a transfer gets cancelled by govt intervention, I’ll just keep the money” ? :rey2
I remember your post and it was pretty disgusting…

Everything about the RCMP is outdated. Check out the inside of their cars, their uniforms, their firearms, etc...

Will prob wait until my latest purchase/transfer goes through then try calling. Since it has been over 3 months since the registration was applied for on sale, I am assuming something went sideways in the process.

On the other hand nobody gets asked for these things so maybe I just let the process take it’s course and live with an unregistered handgun. Oh the horrors. Hopefully just the karma of it keeps jt awake at night.

It is registered to you, you just don't have the paper yet.
phone, email your provincial CFO, they are the one that complete transfers.
Ont., good luck with that.
