I've been looking at local clubs to join while I wait for my app to be processed. One range I was interested in that has an indoor handgun range and an outdoor handgun/rifle range doesn't allow restricted rifles. I know I'm new but is this common among other clubs??

Do they allow non-restricted?

If they don't allow rifles in general it is likely due to the backstops not being rifle rated.

If they allow NR rifles, but not restricteds, then I would assume it is either paperwork/ liscensing issue with the CFO, or they are just biased, which is unlikey as they allow handguns already.

Never heard of this before.

They make the rules....so if you want to shoot there you have to follow them. Usually when they don't allow restricted rifles its because they dont have the distance or safety measures to stop those types of rounds.

Really?

So non restricted rifle rounds are ok?

Most restricted rifles are in .223. Thats a pretty soft........

Oh wait. I forgot the high powered baby killing power that comes from assault rifles......

There is one that I looked into a few years back, that will let you fire a .375 H&H from a proper "hunting gun", but not a .223 from an AR-15 on their outdoor range. I just walked out the door and said forget it... so I wouldn't be supprised to hear if he's looking at the same club.

That same club also had an indoor pistol range.

I didn't know restricted rifles shot different rounds than non restricted lol

Yeah, I kind of figured as much. At least that kind of restriction is uncommon enough that I knew what club you were talking about. Sure you get Fudds at all clubs, but there are only a few where they rule over all. Just don't be supprised when clubs with prejudice dictating policy aren't around for the next generation.

If we are talking about the same one though... They do have other things to worry about. Like Toronto retirees moving in next door, looking for a peacful villa in wine country. LOL

The good news is, at least Silverdale isn't too far for you. I hope.
