Calf is mighty tastey. As long as your near a lake with good fishing and you can whack a few grouse I would say your in for a fun trip.

maybe a bear might pop up also..:)..
im just excited to get out in the bush:) like a day in the bush is far better then a day at work..

Our camp got skunked for tags as well. Should be fun nonetheless. Group moose hunts are usually more social than serious anyway. I am looking forward to it. Cheers,

Patrick

I'd still go, calves are scarce but you definitly wont see one at work or at home. Besides a week in the bush is never a waste.

Mmmm, grouse. Why hunt moose when you can hunt grouse? I'm going out with my dad, uncle, brothers, and assorted cousins to hunt ducks, pond jumping, and all I can think about is whacking a grouse or three. Duck isn't my favourite meal but a grouse is heaven (without a brain).

Nope!! No tags no travel. Not going to drive for 18 0r so hours for a calf. Not that young anymore! Maybe next year. This is the first time in over 30yrs we got skunked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! JITC

If you don't have a tag, no need to go 18 hrs, you can go anywhere for calves (almost;) ).

I'd still go, but only 5-6 hrs with no adult tag...Or go to Quebec...

moose hunt

A week in the bush with your buddies is better than a week at work. However, no adult tags really does suck. Thats the main reason I quit moose hunting in Ontario years ago (area 29 in particular). Since moving to BC 4 years ago I find myself mostly hunting N.W. Alberta where you can hunt multiple species in many areas. God I love the west...I'm going to miss Ontario and east when we say good-bye!!
Just joking folks.

Alberta

David: Mainly because one of my hunting buddy's an Alberta resident and he's hunted the area for a few years. General Elk is only 3 points , both deer are open at same time. We took a nice 6X6 Elk there couple weeks ago. Love to hunt more in BC though. I will be hunting a buddy's farm in Lumby,BC November 1-6.
Cheers

no tags

We're still going, leaving tonight. All calf tags, we got skunked too, first time in years that we did'nt draw tags.

The hunt is so much more than just chasin' moose.

Most of my group are older fellas with so many stories, and jokes, that I've heard at least a hundred times, but I can't wait to be up there for the week with these guys, and listen to em all again.

No where I'd rather be! Lots of grouse to be had, rabbits, etc.

No tags, no problem! Better than being at work for the week!

:dancingbanana: Cheers!

Just got back from spending nearly a month in WMU29, no archery tag again. Called in a nice spoon for pictures and practice in case we ever get a tag. Going back up for two more weeks to hunt calf, grouse, ducks and close camp. We found lots of calf signs and hopefully we may get lucky, and as said before it is time spent in the woods that I love.

No Tag

12 years applying, no tag

And I am an outfitter for remote hunting and fishing vacations born and raised in North Ont...ironic huh.

I think my dad gave up after about 16 years trying.

they all Limited entry or something? Why no tags? How is a calf defined? I'm assuming that's not like an immature in B.C....?
