Gentlemen,
I have a 1950 Longbranch No4 Mk1. It has a Mk3 rear sight which I am not all that fond of and would like to switch over to a Mk1 sight. I couldnt find much in the way online on how to change it out...........anyone have any sage advice or a pic or two? I am assuming its as simple as pulling the pin at the bottom of the sight..............but there must be something spring loaded underneath the sight that makes it pop up? I imagine I'll have some flying lost parts to look for in my carpet?

Anyhow, silly question I know...........but better safe than sorry. Thanks gents!

A spring and a plunger sit below the sight. pull the pin slowly and you'll be fine.

That's all you have to worry about. Try not to bend the cross bolt retaining pin while pulling it out, easier to use again. Also, keep the original sight with the rifle in case you want to switch back to original

Thanks guys, that's exactly the info I was looking for. And yes the packrat in me will keep the old sight around just in case. I have read the mk.III rear sight was a bit rare , but only because it was a bit of a lemon and was replaced with the mk.IV if I understand correctly?

Any sage advice for replacing the full wood furniture with a collapsing AR style stockset? Lol ha ha ha ha just kidding! I was trying to keep a straight face , but didn't want anyone to actually take that question seriously . Lol

@ PanzerIV - I have some internet-sourced jpegs of No.1 rifles with pistol grips and folding steel rod style stocks. They look '80's as Hell like they came off the set of The A-Team.

LOL.............really? I want to say i cant believe that................but...........sigh............lol..........thats still pretty funny............a tacticool enfeild...........lol. just need a picatinny rail for the front handguards.........maybe a flashlight mounted to it...................lol.............red dot perhaps...........good lord...........is that smellie outside slashing my tires? lol

can you post those pics up here maple leaf?

lol dont forget the vertical forward pistol grippy things all the cool kids put on their tacticool enfeilds .......i mean why else would you put a picatinny rail on a No4 if you cant accessorize? maybe a one point sling for cqb? hahahahaha.............heck...........enfeilds had a forward assist (bolt handle) waaaay before the AR............lol

back to reality tho...................i saw a sticky asking to list all 1950 No.4 longbranches..............being i have one..........whats so special about them? i am a little curious? what year did production end ? did canada go straight from the Enfield to the FN Fal , or was there an intermediate rifle in between those two eras?

back to sillyness now...................for faster mag changes in an enfeild...........do you suggest "jungle" taping two mags side by side.............or upside down end to end? hahahahaha

I'm not an authority on Longbranch lineage, but I think No4 production went from 1941 to '45, then continued in '49 up to '56 when they started building the FN C1. During the 4 year break in No4's they made the No7 and some rifles/shotguns for the civilian market to keep the wheels turning.
