They've also said their intention is to make an upper kit that people can add an AR15 carbine barrel to and build their own upper.

All the more reason to try to convince them to register with state department so their products can be exported here. I would be very interested in getting some of their retro ar lowers if we could get them up here as well.

I'm with you, but the only thing that an aluminum lower solves for Canadians is if you already have a 180-B with a broken lower.

Without a complete upper, a new lower isn't going to do you much good; and it's not like 180-B uppers can be pieced together with parts commonly available in Canada either.

Unless there are a bunch of AR180B-2 rifles sitting around with broken lowers I don't see any point in this lower other than making a bunch of money off paranoid owners. The 180 I had was great as it was, my buddy I sold it to is still using it and it's still perfect. The lower only broke if you released the upper and let the upper swing open and slam against the lower. There was a bad batch that had issues due to a poor batch of polymer but warranty took care of those.
Another solution to a problem that doesn't actually exist.

Unless you are a 12(x) owner of a prohibited ar180, not an ar180b, and aren't allowed to shoot it because you can't get an ATT for your prohib. Swap the upper onto the Nodak lower which is the regulated part and you've got a NR gun you can shoot.

Indeed, I have access to a complete AR180 Upper (but of course can't have the lower) and I'd love one of these.

Negative. It would be restricted due to barrel length.

I guess the only thing stopping a Canadian company from manufacturing these here is a lack of market? Why is no one simply making complete rifles?

I heard multiple rumours of multiple shops doing them for Canada over the last couple of years. In the end it has all been rumours so far. NEA was hinting at doing them a few years back as well. They would be our best bet if anyone I suppose.
