Nokes Pattent

Proofmarks may give a country of origin, and era. The locking system may give an indication of when the shotgun was made.

If you can provide more info of any kind it can help to identify. Gauge, proofmarks, chamber length, extractors, ejectors, safety...literally any info. Nokes may not be the maker.

I found the information I was looking for on line. This 13 bore hammer gun was made in the UK around 1880.
I have a request of to Christies Auction House in the UK for an appraisal ,
Thanks for looking.

It almost certainly fires 12 gauge ammunition. The British used a system of gauging to let subsequent owners know what the original bore diameter was. That way they could tell whether the bore had been reamed out or polished at a later date. A '13' bore gun would be on the tight side, and would measure between .710" to .718" at a point, I beleive, 9" forward of the chamber.

Correct, the "bore" is exactly that, chamber size was not disclosed in proof marks during this era.

Not an especially valuable gun, but is barrels are sound it would be a great shooter.

Those unusually shaped (elongated) lock plate are aesthetically pleasing to me.
