Hey all,

just wanted to find out if there were any of Permanent Resident folks (and non citizens) who have recently applied for their R/PAL.

If you did, how long was the process time?

I'm a PR and came from London, England. In my RPAL application package, I have included my Police Certificate (as proof to show I have no convictions or criminal records).

It would be great to find out what your experiences and timeslines are. If you are currently in process, how's that going for you?

I sent my application 2 weeks ago but I don't expect much movement for another 2-3 weeks, at least to show my details are in the system. Then hopefully another 2-3 weeks before it gets approved.

Thanks in advance for your responses.

James.

PR = Political Refugee? Edit, Ah now I see, Permanant Resident! Should be no problems. Im a landed immigrant/permanant resident and when I got my FAC in 1979 I dont remember any unusual questions. Just had to show my little card. Not sure about things now though.

Thanks fellahs.

So the textbook time of 45 days, applied as an Albertan (Edmonton) sounds right?

Happy to hear that.

Alberta CFO is pretty good at this point in my experience. I believe I got mine a bit quicker than the 45 days even and they are forthcoming in giving you updates on the phone too. I was waiting for mine to take my Black Badge course and they went out of their way to ensure I get mine in time after it was approved.

Excellent! WG, thank you. Certainly does give me confidence in getting mine soon-ish.

being PR means no difference to anyone else for anything.
just crack on with your life as a normal canadian.

tip on PR .... you dont have to renew your PR in 5years time but and its a big but
if you leave the country you cant get back in otherwise you can continue to work etc

As Im fully well doing, first thing, buying a firearm and hunting, no way do we get to do this in England.

Thanks for the tip but fellah, I'm so going to be a Citizen before the 5 years are up. I love this place, and the people too (well, most of them :) ).
