I'm looking for recommendations for a non free floating carbine length rail. Anyone know where I might be able to get one in Canada. Arms East used to have the Samson which seemed pretty good, but I don't see it listed on thier site anymore.

Thanks, ZM

If you want one on the cheap you can get the UTG #416 quadrail for 70$ at TSE or 99$ at Questar....ive heard good things about them for the price but i cant recommend it yet because i have yet to put the one i got on my AR. I know TSE has another non FF rail for about 170$....i dont remember the brand, however.

My UTG is working fine. Has remained in one place, everything fits. Good enough for range work and other kinds of play.

Midwest Industries makes a very good non-FF rail, I think Wolverine has them, reasonably priced too. SureFire has a similar rail for just over $200. If you're looking for something fancier there is the KAC M4 RAS.

Well UTG is an airsoft company

Right - but who cares for, as I mentioned, "range work and other kinds of play". Particularly since it's solid. If someone wants to spend almost eight times more for a KAC that will go from a safe to a range and back, no problem - it's their money. The only thing they'll get for it is some bragging rights - not that there's anything wrong with that!

Not just bragging rights. The confidence and reassurance that it won't fail, lose zero, and it will fit. For some "playing" with their rifles is more than just playing. There's little purpose in running a FF or non FF rail system if you do not intend to compete or atleast reap the rewards offered by such systems. Accepting a sub par product or one which does not have the reputation of the often high priced models defeats the purpose of "improving" your rifle. Unless of course the accessories in question are only there for the look and nothing more.

+1. If you want to go cheap save some cash and get some bolt-on rails that attach to the plastic handguards. What's the purpose of a rail then if it won't hold zero.

UTG is fine if you're only mounting your vert grip and a light. Neither of which are "zero" dependent. UTG rails from my experiences are solid for just such accessories. Forward mounting an optic onto a UTG platform is something I would not do based on their reputation and the fact that they make Airsoft grade accessories.

I've got a surefire fom P&D on mine and it works great. It's been holding zero with an Eotech and a C-more for about 20 months, and some hard range time. Read as oops I dropped it again. Just make sure to loctight the screws in.
