Non-lethal rounds

I have several types in my cartridge collection.
Legal to own, but don't take that to mean that they are legal to shoot your friends with!

Yeah, and pointing a firearm at a person is still a serious deal... loaded, unloaded, loaded with less lethal.

What about defending yourself at home? Let's say the intruder doesn't necessarily threatens my life, but definitely some physical injury. Or in Canada any use of a firearm is considered lethal?

This aint the place to discuss the topic. It has been covered several times before(try the search function). The law is fuzzy in this area. You're right to defend yourself only goes so far as to repel attacks of grievous bodily harm. the courts are the issue. If you can't convince the courts that shooting the scum bag was your only option and that you feared for your life...You're done. Check the criminal code, call a lawyer and roll the dice.

Like I said earlier, don't shoot ANYTHING you don't want dead. The ONLY purpose for Non Lethal rounds would be for riot control or maybe on prisoners (even for those, I think the use is improper). Other than that, if it doesn't need to die, a firearm is not the solution. If your life isn't threatened, why put yourself in a liabilty situation like that. If your life IS threatened, by all means, shoot to stop your attacker with whatever you have handy, but you'll have a hell of a time proving you felt your life was threatened if your shotgun was loaded with rock salt.

There's no such thing as non lethal. They're less lethal. I hate to be picky but using the term non lethal in court rather than less lethal could cost you as well. I choose to play for keeps.

Ammo

There is non lethal training ammunition (Simunition etc...) and there is less lethal ammunition (flexible projectiles, like sock rounds, and non flexible, plastic, wood, etc). Less lethal ammunition is widely used by many police dept's in the form of bean bags, and their use is not only for riot control, they are very effective at subduing violent people. There is always the potential to cause death when using such tools, but the risk is low if used as intended. Simunition, although called non lethal, has the potential to cause death, especially when launched from one of their AR uppers (ouch!).
