I have sourced a 41' dated bayonet locally at a militaria store, but it comes with a non matching scabbard. I was wondering what the value of something like this would be so I don't get hosed.

The date code on the bayonet is 41ASW, I don't know what code the scabbard is but the bluing on both the blade and scabbard are nice.

$150 and not a penny more.

If you hunt around a bit, you can get more than reasonable prices on matching K98 bayonets - for example I just came across a matching 1937 dated example for $240.

I just found out the scabbards are new reproduction. Think I might pass on them, where are good areas to source bayonets?

Definitely not worth $200 then.

Does it have to be a German K98, or will Yugo reworks suffice? Basically the best place to find this stuff seems to be Europe - find a European based website, but stay the heck away from the ones that only sell items for $500+, lots of those "museum quality" sites over there. Here too, but that's another story... I personally stay away from ScamBay, but you might be able to find a decent deal there.

I will check Europe. Ebay had some but no 41' dated ones. Yeah I would prefer a German made one.

I wonder if you can find them at shows easily.

I watch ebay auction's,but only Canadian seller's,they come up regularly.I also check ebay's buy it now listing's,there's a few on there now.I bought a matching 43asw in mint condition a couple weeks ago at an antique mall for $130,a very good price.Non matching in good or better condition should be $80 - $120 depending on year + maker.Matching ones start at $120 + can go over $1000 depending on the maker +year.

I have a bid out on eBay right now might consider a buy it now. The only ones on the EE right now are $285-$300 which is steep for me. I did put out a WTB but had no replies.

The crappy thing about eBay is that a lot of it is American and with the exchange right now a good deal quickly turns into a bad one. Found a cool Czech refurb one on a european site which is 41 dated and would be awesome with my Czech refurbed 41 dated 98k but they want 175 euros plus shipping which with exchange is over $300

You guys are crazy. A mismatched bayo is like $10p-125 unless some rare code.

I have a nice matching original I’ll sell for around 200 lol

Matching and in very good to excellent condition tops out at $300. There's no way of proving any of the BS claims that some sellers make in regard to provenance, etc. Unless of course something has capture papers as a soldiers bring back (or does that make it a US/USSR capture and worthless, hmmm...).

The one's that sell for more are 1945 dated,Kreighsmarine,Police, reich's post, makers with low production numbers + makers with high production numbers that have variations in there assembly + finish of the metal parts. etc. There's no official document's for bayonets being issued or marked to Germany's elite unit's.

1945 are indeed rarities, usually in the $1000+ area. I've seen a few come up for sale, usually without scabbards. I seem to recall hearing that there may have only been 50,000 produced and of that many probably ended up melted down and repurposed - or just never completed.

Another option for a cheap K98 bayonet would be looking at Spanish or Portuguese models, generally unmarked and undated.
