I was using the registry data base and did a few searches.. How come some items come up as not restricted? I found an aug? and a bunch of calico's..
Some of you guys that have a non resticted calico wanna sell me one?
It sure has a large amount of mistakes... anyone else find any?

Yeah, I was wondering about that too. I would imagine that the mistakes were made by the data entry drones who compiled the Ottawa Citizen database, and are not on the registry level, although we have no way of knowing for sure.

They might be deactivated. Turning prohibs into non-restricted. Just a guess.

nope more then likly mis registered by accident or on purpose

really type in ANY prohib rifle/subgun and you will find several that are registered as non resitricted or restricted

it may also be that the gun has NOT been re-registered since it was restricted only (green slip days)

I bought an m1 carbine 2 years ago just the barrel action got a notice several weeks later that i may be in possion of a prohibited device...the old green slip listed that carbine as 15 shots..... it never came with a mag but:bangHead:

Keep in mind that the Ottawa Citizen portal does not give you access to the actual registry. Instead, they have compiled their own database using data from the registry. This is most likely a case of simple data entry errors.

There is no way the Ottawa paper manualy input the data. They would have either directly imported from tape/disk/cd, or scanned paper. Scanning will not mark a prohib as non-restricted. The errors are almost certainly in the original data.

it is a pretty well known fact that people DELIBERATELY miss registered Prohib guns because they were already nto grandfathered.

The idea was they can produce a registration cert for it if asked. That is why verifiers were so important to transfers, they said it was to "correct the mistakes that were made in registraition"

but true intentions? who knows

Hell when I bought my first 9mm and it was coming off a green slip and into the new system. The lady at the CFO told me that I could have the 15 shot mags for the pistol after I mentioned several times that they were pined to 10rd. because that was the way it was registered. :bangHead:

I know of a case where a prohib rifle was registered as non restricted quite innocently by the owner, who was unaware of its prohib status. He had owned the gun since the early 80's and never suspected that his 18.5" barrelled rifle was anything but non restricted.

The CFC quite obligingly issued a registration for it, but then caused issues some time later when he decided to sell the rifle.

the paper got a cd with the registry info on it.

Didnt the cost of the CFC computer system run about 500 million? and they were able to drop all the data in a 500 million dollar computer on one CD/DVD?

CDs are $0.25 Each..... seems like something is wrong with that equation....

I bet the information is the same as what they got and we can jsut see how bad the registry data really is...
