i've always liked the looks and feel of the Smith and Wesson M39, but due to the fact it's 3mm's short of that magic number i can never own one in it's original form. does anyone make a 105 or longer barrel that would fit? as with most prohibs, there's a supply of cheap 39's on the EE, and it drives me nuts!

Although there used to be 5" bbls. for Mod. 39s at Sarco in the U.S., that country's export regs would deny you (and me) the ability to get one here, even if they're still available. I'm going through exactly this problem now with a R-Pal and a Mod. 39. I've contacted Barry Jensen at Bits of Pieces in BC. He'll build a new barrel to make it "restricted-legal" and re-register the gun. He can advise you on the legal way to do this. It ain't cheap, but it works.

Bushwhacker, I think the problem isn't finding "restricted" barrels (although I don't think there are any easily found any more). The problem is that the U.S. requires a formal export procedure for any gun barrel, and I have yet to find a dealer/supplier willing to go through it.
