My firearms interests have brought me to the point where I feel the need to have a black rifle now. I was wondering if someone could give me a list of makes and models of black type rifles that are non-restricted. I know that the Robinson arms XCR and Bushmaster ACR are NR but I have read that the XCRs aren't so great and the ACRs are real expensive. Any input would be great.

You will find someone who will slag any gun. I have an XCR and I love it for a whole bunch of reasons. There are 2 things that are negative attributes as follows:

1) A bit heavy up front as compared to other (restricted) black rifles.
2) A bit pricey for what you get.

The quality is to notch so the price isn't totally out of line but if AR's were non-restricted, I might not have an XCR. I have a restricted PAL but love the ability to plink with the XCR on private property & crown land. I also have a 6.8mm kit for it in case I want to plug yotes at 300 yards.

Just for the record, the ACR is restricted and requires a barrel change & reclassification process to become NR. I have heard that non have been reclassified in Canada yet.

If I read that correctly that you imply that there have been no restricted ACRs reclassified, you would be incorrect......

Wrong I had a non res ACR and sold it.

That is why I said "I have heard"... I may have misunderstood but I understand that the RCMP are dragging their feet on a long backlog of reclassification files. This comes from the keyboards of some of the CGN sponsors who are trying to reclassify on behalf of their customers.

After asking this question I went on to read about the ACRs and also read more about the XCRs. I think I'm leaning more towards the XCR cause its NR right out of the box. I too have my RPAL but would rather have a gun I can take places rather than just the range. The "AK look alikes" are of little interest to me so I think this is the way to go.

No need to fight over posts guys. Some people see/here/experience things that others don't.

Thanks for your help

If you don't care about the weight, XCR or ACR should be fine. If you are "runnin' and gunnin'" I would stay away from these! just from personal experience.
