Am I reading right?

Are these really available to anyone with a non restricted license?

Apparently FN CAL's could be deemed Non Restricted though if designed semi auto from the ground up.... good luck finding one. Ohh China?

It's a crying shame that we can't at least own and use the former rifle's the CF's have used over the years. I've been lucky enough to fondle a friends FN from his collection. If I could, I would have as many of those as I could. But the nanny state, which is alive and well and firmly entrenched in our gov'ts say you and I cannot be trusted. Meanwhile, Canada's 1st family of terrorism ars stll in our country and their darling gem of a son/brother has been moved to an Edmonton jail.

There's an Imbel version of the FNC, except it uses a rotary bolt - I asked Tactical Imports about it and they told me it had been turned down as an FNC variant, despite having a completely incompatible bolt - the rifle in question was made in semi only for police forces in Brazil. So I guess nothing even remotely FALish will ever be NR.

Maybe try something like the old Holloway Arms HAC-7? Rare stateside, because they only made around 350 or so before the company went out of business back in the 80's. Definitely isn't an FN variant internally, though I don't have access to the FRT tables myself to see if it's classified as such or not. Here's a pic, and a link to bit of info on it:

If these somehow were good to go, maybe a new version could be our ticket to a "FAL-ish" looking NR rifle.

In the FRT file they list two Halloway Arms rifles as Prohibited, and some were select fire.
They are 7A, 7AL, 7AC & 7ACL
The 7A & 7AL had 508mm barrels
The 7AC & 7ACL had 406mm barrels.
