Non-Restricted PAL (Ontario CFO)

Hey everyone:

I applied for my non restricted and sent in the forms, the RCMP received them on March 18th. My application has finished initial processing and is now in progress. Its been like that for a few weeks so I called them and the lady on the phone told me: "in fact, your application was worked on today, the CFO has to do a background check, rest assured that its on top of the pile of applications".

Has anyone had a similar experience? How long will it usually take after having the lady tell you all that? My references were not called, neither was I.

They will be calling. I just checked mine online, but don't hold your breath for quick results.

They don't always call your references. If you think it will help speed things up tell your references to call the CFP.

As soon as they said they were ready for references I had one of mine call in. ...I was approved the same day. This is by far the quickest way to expedite an application.

From what I have heard they typically don't call references for non restricted, just restricted... unless maybe they are worried about your application or maybe its a slow day a the CFO.

As for the 2+ month wait, its not that unusual, you already called so it will probably be bumped forward now. Expect your license in a few weeks.
