Non Restricted SSD STG 44 in 8mm Kurz :)

It's an SSD (System Dietrich) STG 44. These are a commercial semi auto only copy of the original rifle. That same company also produces the First version FG 42 as the BD 42.
Parts are available from the company which is located in Germany, however, they are extremely expensive, and priced in Euro's. The rifle the young lady fired in the Video, is the first one I've seen that actually worked! Kudo's to the OP for getting one of these sorted out, it was worth the wait.

The OP started this project with an SSD BD44 which is restricted because of its barrel length.
The OP then had it re barreled with a 18.5+inch barrel, so that it will be reclassified as a non-restricted rifle.
I love the idea of that. If I owned an SSD BD44, I would do the very same thing. I should have purchased the
BD44 instead of the BD38, and we all know how that ended, hmmmm. As the owner of a 12(3) MP44 and the
.22 cal. GSG Stg44, this project has really caught my interested.

To the best of my knowledge SSD went out of business. So your best bet would be to place a WTB ad for one on EE.

Both are currently sold out with Marstar. The BD44 long ago, the BD42 more recently. The EE is your only option.
Or wait for the new production US made Stg44 to come out. And past the lab.

Thanks for the feedback XRCD - No sense in having strange guns unless you can get them out shooting, and get others into the sport. I've been working on a goal of making sure I either take a new shooter, or not yet PAL holder to the range whenever I go. Turns out universities are great places to find people who want to get into hunting and sport shooting, and they end up being great representatives of the sport in a place that otherwise doesn't really understand firearms and the community.
I'll also pass on the compliment to the shooter - she's somewhat new to shooting, but holds a lot of promise, and has a terrible habit of out-shooting me.

I think they might be back in business? They've gone under a couple times. Apparently the owner is an absolutely great guy who knows everything about firearms, but isn't a businessman. I suspect the FRT for them still stands, so one could import one directly from them if they so chose. I'm guessing on that though. Or the EE as EME and fenceline say.
Are you referring to the HMG STG? I vaguely remember a more historically accurate gun in the works but can't find it now?

Aha! Knew I'd seen something about SSD going back into production. Looks like the importers are distancing themselves from the SSD name, but still, they're being built again, and apparently with better quality controls?
