Non restricted...

Ok, why is a SIG assault rifle non restricted but an AR is??? What is the difference if you get an AR with a 20" barrel. I never understood this marginalization of AR's.

The bulk of Canadian gun laws are based on knee-jerk reactions to fear and denial :runaway: . That's why they make no sense.

Gun Boy: Do not try and understand the logic of the law. That's impossible.
Instead... only try to realize the truth.

Neo: What truth?

Gun Boy: There is no logic in Canadian law.

Neo: There is no logic in Canadian Law?

Gun Boy: Then you'll see, that it is not the logic of the law, it is only yourself
getting confused and angry.

(Scene where Neo tries to understand Canadian gun law.)

How much are the AR180B's worth? I seem to remember seeing one pop up once in a while on the EE. I wouldent mind picking one up as they are non-restricted. The AR15 is fun and whatnot, but it would be really awesome to bring one out to the bush for a while.

Thanks for the Reply's guys...
I too am a little spoiled, Just got back from overseas, and have been carrying a heavy barreled C8 for the past 7 months... But I only have a non restricted PAL. So, I think I am actually going to go to 7.62 and buy a norinco M14 and then MOD the hell out of it. Most of the Rifles suggested look as though they cannot be tampered with, and I would like to modify whatever I buy. Great suggestions though guys and thanks for the info.

If you're going for 7.62 you check out the Valmet Hunter. Its unrestricted, semi-auto, and one of the only AK variants you can own in Canada.

Unfortunately Valmet Hunters are big cash if you can find one. I don't think you'll find one for the price of a new AR180b, not even close.

IMHO best options for a NON RESTRICTED 5.56 are the AR180B, HKSL8 (with AR mag adapter). The Sig series of rifles Green Classic or Black Special are nice but dont allow for standad AR magazines (perfect if you feel like paying upwards of $70 a mag).

Alternatively the Norinco M14 (with $$$$ of mods) is good but 7.62 is always just better through a FN pattern rifle ;)

I think that Non - Restricted is the key to this original thread. Just a note that the 5.56 rifles above will scare most PC loving non-gun types. and will confuse your local RCMP (make sure to have your paperwork with you)
