Noob hunter screams when ‘dead’ deer bounces away

I learned a long time ago to approach downed game from behind with my rifle loaded and at the ready, when actually at the animal I touch the OPEN eye with the muzzle to check reaction..........no reaction, no problem. Although deer can be somewhat injurious in this situation it gets a lot hairier with grizzly, cape buff, lion and the like. Yes it is unfortunate for the deer, but it does happen. Best case another hunter was able to harvest it, worst case it was eaten by wolves and/or coyotes, which would have been his final demise regardless.

first thing my CORE instructor taught the class is that if the animals eyes are closed, they're still alive. they're playing, 'if I can't see you...you can't see me either'.

he shoulda popped it in the head immediately. :p

He already did and look where it got him. A deer with a hole in its' head that will probably survive long enough to die a miserable death. Shooting at a moving deer is the most ridiculous thing 99.9% of hunters should not do. Now if these hunters would get out and practice shooting at moving targets that might get them somewhere. But I think in most of the idiotic cases they get out to the range once to sight in there rifle with one or two shots the day before hunting season. Considering he didn't even know the approximate size of the animal before he shot is absurd. It is hunters like this that end up swinging their rifles at noises in the bush.

End of rant.

hahaha, Full on!!

me an a buddie had one get up on us an took off... it wasn't laying quite so still as that one though!

hahah the way it bounces off is classic
