i bought a savage 10FP with choate stock, which had some work done and stock bedded to the rifle itself, now, my question is - can i still remove the stock from the action once its been bedded, or is it permanent ? it looks solid, but i havent tried separating it yet.

thanks!

Yup, really easy way of finding out....If it was BEDDED it will come out, if it was glued in (which does happen....on purpose..) then, well...you know..

r u guys suggesting i shouldnt force it apart ? i like it, just wanted to paint it something cool. not a big fan of masking tape or half ass jobs.

pull the action screws out, with a little wiggling the action and stock should seperate. if your have the screws out and are reefing on it to try and get it apart, somthings wrong.

Are you telling us that you have removed both screws and the gun will not come apart?

A little wiggling should be enough to get it to move. If not, that gun and stock might be like Rosie O'donnels a$$ cheeks on a hot day, STUCK TOGETHER!

 cp:

I think if someone went through the bother of bedding a rifle they would have to find out how to do it first ,so they probably put some kind of release agent on the action and maybe missed a few spots.
If you cant wiggle it apart stick the gun in the freezer over night with the action screws removed and give it a good crank when you pull it out it should give.

I glued a stock and rifle together once, I even used a release agent but it didn't work. Needless to say I had to literally beat the s**t out of it to get it off. In the process I broke my trigger, and busted my B&C stock in half. My savage, raging snap show cost me 1000 dollars.

Good Luck
