Norc 1911 Grip Bushings

Hey whats up guys..Im wondering if the Norinco 1911 grip bushings are universal with other 1911 and if there standard...I want to change mine.

The grips screw threads are standard. But the thread of the bushing into the frame is not standard. The frame holes would have to be tapped for new bushings.

When I still had a Norinco 1911 I put a set of thin Alumagrip grips on it which required new bushings. Chris at Alumagrips lent me a tap to enlarge the holes so I could have oversized slim bushings installed. He was great to deal with but upgrading the grips was costly and I probably wouldn't do it again.

After talking with Brownells they suggested the frame bushing tap to just recut the original threads to accept standard sized bushings. They said tons of guys bought that die for their norinco's down there when you could still but norcs for the frame and slide. I bought that die but have yet to use it on my frame.

Sorry, but to clarify I'm not talking about the oversized bushing tap.

I put thin grips on my double stack Norc 1911. The bushings were too tall. Instead of replacing them, I just filed them shorter.

Thought that the bushings on NP-28 were for thin grips already? Was able to swap with thin grops w/o mods.
