I am looking to buy my first 1911 and was attracted by the Norc Police.

The finish looks really nice. Still I have few questions...
(I know they are out of stock)

1- Is this Police 1911 from Norinco Reliable?: not all Norc guns are reliable and some have problems with the mags. I'm better ask it first to avoid desapointment.

2- What is the difference with the Police one of Canada Ammo and the Sports one of Marstar? They look the same...

3- What sights on it? (just black or white dots) and how's the trigger?

Bul M-5:
4- I have look back till 2008 to search any overall evaluation but the Bul don't seems to have much attention so far.
The Bul is the double of the price of the Norc, does it worth it?

Any really good evaluation of the Bul Gov M-5 1911 somewhere?

Thanks for your help!

Nothing wrong with norcs, i have two norc hand guns. even high end brand names guns have problems, and norcs you can build on cheaply.

Never had a problem with my Norc 1911's. If you have magazine problems, buy some better quality mags, 99% of us do. I think there is no difference in the 2 guns between Marstar and CanAm except the model name. Sights can be replaced, but as a whole, the Norc Polce/Sport model as everything you want, just have a decent set of sights installed and maybe a trigger job and voila.

Yes, with the standard 230Grain Round nose, it should be fine, ymmv on hollowpoints, flat points and semi wadcutters. My personable opinion though is to buy some quality mags for any 1911, Wilson, McCormick Tripp Cobra Mags, etc. You'll just spend less time frustrated

Nada, Zip, Zilch, although I believe that CanAms' come with 2 mags as opposed to Marstars' one (Could be wrong though)

Sights are Dovetailed rear and front, with dots. They are better that the regular Norinco sights..........but not by much (in my opinion)

The Bul is a nice gun, is Israeli made, I really like their Commander Model. It is a double stack so the grip is slightly wider than the Norc. if you are looking for reviews of the Bul, do a search for Charles Daly M5, they are the same gun:

They are decent. well made, they used a ramped bull barrel, so they should feed anything you can throw at it. Sights are definitely better than the Norincos and hell you get 10rds of .45 :)

Your best bet in my opinion ? as this is your first 1911, pick up a bone stock 1911A1 copy from Marstar for $325.00 you can't beat it, then you can see what it's like shooting a .45 the way it was meant to be shot :) ,

2nd best would be to spend $449.00 and pick up one of the Armco tuned ones and you will be quite happy. you get 2 mags and it has been tweaked by Gunnar for reliability and will have an excellent trigger.

Remember that the fancy bits, ambi-safety, beavertail etc can all be added at a later date one you get familiar with your new friend.

If you are going to spend 700+ on a 1911 (the Bul is 700) Take a look at STI's spartan, it is probably the best deal in a gun with all the custom features, including a decent set of adjustable sights for $819.00.

just my .02 for what its worth

While the Norincos may work and are a fine choice the Bul line is much more refined. I have the all steel Bul Storm and the quality is much better than what Norinco offers.

If you want to tinker and modify a gun, go with the Norinco, if not then go for the Bul.

My vote Norc.
