I came across these vids searching for how to break down my new CanAm pkg when it gets here. I'm enough of a noob that I won't be breaking it down all the way but in future may look to replace parts or refinish to make custom....

Good video he definitely makes you feel like you could do it easy enough....
The gun he's working on is the "70's style Commander" and I was just wondering how close is this to the "governments" in CanAm pkg. and see if anyone has a vid with the exact model, or if anyone who has the skills might make one....

The only difference is the length. It's the exact same process to break it down. Try it and you'll see just how easy it is!

Pretty sure he's talking about "Series 70", which is used to refer to 1911s without a particular type of firing pin block safety.

Your new Norinco 1911 is a series 70. As Garonimus said, yours will have the same disassembly process. Do it, it's good for you. Don't hesitate to take it apart completely, it's not difficult to reassemble, and there are many, many excellent guides available online.

The only consideration you should have is the "Idiot Scratch" that is relatively easy to do on reassembly. Google it, and you'll see what I mean, and how to avoid it.
