Norc 5.56 surplus ammo in Savage Axis?

Anyone here use this ammo in their Savage Axis?Is it safe to shoot in them?

Is the barrel marked for 5.56? If it isn't, I wouldn't.

IMO prob safe but the hard surplus primers would be an issue

Safe, but the hard primers require a stiffer firing pin spring. Ask me how I know lol.

I have done it lots, only problem is the Axis has problems with the hard primers. 3 out of 10 need a double hit to go bang.

My father-in-law had nothing but problems with Norc surplus in his bolt guns. It's not SUPER consistent either.

I blast through 1000s in my AR, but I'd find other for use in a bolt gun.

imo no ,,i dont trust it in my stevens wouldnt in a axis not worth a blown barrel and safety

Like the others said, hard primers are the biggest issue.

I fired some through my Rem 700, bolt was hard to close on several of them which I ejected unfired, they are not very uniform size or accurate. Kind of a waste to shoot them through a decent gun lol

I keep them for my ARs.

Oddly enough, I reloaded Norc brass for my axis and got good results.
