hello

i just got a norc cq-311. i want to put the magpul handguards on it. do they just pop on standared rifle length? do they need to be fitted or anything?

They won't just snap on without fitting.

The end cap on the CQ311 is round - for a rifle, it should be triangular. Some reason the chinese wanted to be different. :)

Might get it to fit... I had to do a bit of filing to get a standard A2 set to work when I had mine...

If you can, it makes it way easier if you can change the handguard retainer at the front. This involves removing the flash hider, lockwasher, 2 taper pins that hold the front sight (These can be a bear to remove) on and the handguard retainer. You will need a triangular handguard retainer for the smaller diameter AR barrel. This mod allows you to use any handguards you wish. You can also change out the rear buttstock and put a normal length one by simply re-taping the screw hole in the end of the butt stock tube 1/4 28. The rifle is metric threaded so there is not a lot more you can change without a really big tap to do the butt socket in the lower receiver, a size I can't remember.

I know their products are kinda cheap, but, Ncstar makes a carbine length handguard that bolts on to a CQ311 directly in about 3 minutes. It fits real well, it is 4 sided and machined out of aluminum. Not magpul, but it works for the price, just like the rifle!

what parts are metric? just the butt stock screw? or all the threded parts? like for the barrel cap and pistol grip and muzzel brake? i have a lower from a CQ-A i will probubly just put this upper on.

Stock screw,grip screw,reciever extenson,barrel nut
and I'am not sure about the flash hider.

And swapping out the handguard cap can be very easy or a PIA.
Because of the thin profile of the barrel you might need to build it up to use a A2 end cap if you can't find a A1 end cap.

For $500 this is a good rifle,for $350 it's a great rifle.
