Just got my new CQ 556 and like it alot. Have a few questions, is anyone reloading for theirs? I have some of the Surplus bulk powder (H335 variant) and 55gr fmj's to load. Just wondering if anyone has a "pet load" with this powder and bullet, or any others that they recommend. Also, does anyone know where I can get some of the LAR pistol mags? Anyone recommend a good aftermarket rear sight? Thanks for any input you could share:D

LAR-15, 10-round mags: I bought mine from CRAFM, a site sponsor.

My "standard" 55 gr FMJ load is 27 gr W748 powder, Rem 71/2 (BR) primers on whatever cases I get in my hands. Works well in three different AR-15's.

I use a MI rear sight (folds down) and I am happy with it.

I hope you enjoy your new AR-5

I use 24 Gn H335 and 55 Gn FMJ in my Norc M4. Works for CQB distances but falls apart at 100 yards.

You just have to try different powder charges and see what works best for you. You might also get accuracy differences using different primers too. Reloading is never real simple and usually involves a lot of trial and error. It's part of the fun :)

Thanks for that as if I recall correctly that the WC735 from Higginsons is very similar and to back off 5% of H335 loads. Is the accuracy bad at 100?

My particular rifle shoots 2- MOA with that load. I use it for CQB which is 35 yards an in. Groups one raged hole at that distance.

Sometime I need to try that load with a better 55 Gn bullet (using Rem bulk 55Gn) or move up to 62 or 68 Gn match bullets. Too many reloading projects right now to get to all of them. :)

I just got my CQ last week and have only fired about 50 rounds through it. I had planned to reload rather than buy, so I figured this would be the best place to ask questions. I will experiment with different loads once I get going, I just need a round that will get me rolling. Do the CQ's like the heavier bullets better than the 55's? I have a decent supply of 55gr fmj Winchesters so thats what I'll be using for now, but hopefully will get a chance to try other weights as well.

I load 25.5gr of BL-C2 with 55gr lake city FMJ. Works like a charm on any brass I have. I especially love the lake city brass I got a few weeks ago.

Thanks for the feedback guys! How far have you checked your CQ's for accuracy? Any particular brand bullet shoot better over another?
