Hi all,

With the recent purchase of my Norc AR 14.5" i've been slightly broke. But now i'm back in action and looking for upgrades.

Being as new as I am to the black rifle market I'm pretty overwhelmed by the sheer amount of upgrades for these rifles.

I don't really know what fits what to be honest. I'm looking to buy a fore-end to attach gadgets to but I'm not exactly sure what ones fit this specific rifle.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. If there's a thread that outlines items that fit norc's I would be happy to close this thread if a link is provided.

Just about every AR-15 part made will fit the Norc. The buffer tube is probably commercial size, not milspec, which matters if you want to change the butt assembly.

I can think of four things to change on the rifle that will improve it. A better trigger. I use the Rock River match trigger, which is not expensive.

A float tube.

A Hogue pistol grip.

A scope. a 1.5 - 5 zoom is about right, or a 2.5 or 3 X fixed.

Assuming you modify the hand guard or replace the front retaining ring. I did the latter and found that the stock one was undersized.

It's not so much modifying the hand guards, it's more just swapping them out, pretty much the second easiest upgrade after the stock. Given that you're looking to attach gadgets and stuff, I would recommend something like the Daniel Defence EZ car rail set, they light, solid and pretty affordable.

Personally, you really don't need a whole lot of stuff on your gun, IMO it's best to keep them simple, good sturdy stock, comfortable grip, stubby vertical fore grip, and a BCM Gunfighter/Raptor charging handle. It'd probably be best if you found a carbine course, it'll really let you know what you need on your gun. Also, you get to try out other ppl's gear/set ups.

Then look into optics, again it's best to try a bunch, to see what you like, and what are willing to invest.

I'm a fan of the BCM charging handle. Haven't tried the Raptor but I understand it works great.

I put a DD Omega FF handguard on mine. Took maybe 5 minutes and it's solid.

I also was running a Magpul MIAD grip and a CTR stock for a while, then an Voltor Clubfoot that I won.

I tried one of those batter assist lever things but it caused the bolt carrier to not lock back on an empty mag. Others have found the same thing so I would say avoid it.

Not really what I meant. There is a large number of people who have had difficulties swapping out hand guards on he CQ-As, especially with the Magpul MOE, without first taking a die grinder to the front tabs to make them fit. Personally, I've tried the MOE and the DD EZ rails and neither would fit until I replaced the front ring.

I never had to do anything with my norc. I have a UTG on now and I had some other brand of rail before it. I am getting the command arms handguards next week. I will let you know if it needs any mods. my gun is the 10.5" model.

I changed my rail out for a free float one. A few days before parts arrived I put a few drops of Kroil on the gas block taper pins and the barrel/block seam. Came off slick as snot.

I have one of the original 14.5s from Marstar. I had to remove the gas block to replace the front ring, but it only took me 10 minutes with a block and taper punch from Brownells and a big f'n hammer. As with most things, changing the hand guards is easy, except when it isn't.
