Many others have said it is a thread different from the US M14, and is some metric derivation. The castle nut I am lead to believe will fit the Norinco and the Norinco alone, and not the US version.

that 595"-32tpi translates ~into 15x0.8mm. I guess I will have to measure with gauge when I am home.

True the USGI casle nut threads are different from the Chinese, however a USGI castle nut will thread on a Chinese barrel . If you go slow and take your time it will go . I have tried it and it does work. I have not tried the inverse. Chinese parts are a little difficult to come by around here .
