Trigger on a new Norc is sticking or catching slightly on it's way back out after being pulled. Reciever is in a Boyds Walnut stock, rifle has not been fired yet.

With an empty mag in and bolt back, the first and second stage of the trigger pull is smooth(ish) for a new trigger, but when I take my finger off it doesn't return all the way forward. Instead it catches on something and stays between first & second stage.

Is this something that a couch session will smooth out (although watching the leafs squander their playoffs chances is getting tough to stomach) or could it be related to the stock pinching something?

Thanks guys.

It must be the Boyds stock pinching or not fitting properly.

I pulled the stock off and reassembled the reciever/trigger group on their own, popped in an empty mag, racked it open and the trigger works smoothly.

Then when it goes back into the stock it starts to catch again.

When it comes to the stock I don't know where to start in diagnosing the problem. Below are 3x pics of how it looks/fits from the outside. With the trigger group off and the reciever in the stock alone, I notice the reciever can be shifted left and right inside the stock about 1/8" either way at the back. Looser than my fibreglass stock but I don't think that would cause the problem.

As the Doctor said, this might be impossible to diagnose without hands on but thought I'd try.

Thanks

The trigger and receiver too close together , or trigger housing is not level to the receiver maybe, or something dragging on the inside stock wall... I can't see the pics too well on my blackberry and won't be near a computer till tomorrow night.

The stock in the first pic is not flush with the receiver, you need to take a little material off the stock to make it flush.

Third pic you see the receiver is flush, so your receiver isn't sitting properly and your trigger group will be very tight and will cause problems.

I would not shoot any rounds through it till you sort this issue.

Sorry about the image but my paintbrush skills need some work, the line is where you need to remove material.

Remove a little at a time till its flush.

No rush Doc, appreciate the help. What I should do tomorrow is a closer comparison between this rifle and my 2nd Poly that works smoothly.

You will notice that bottom area of the receiver is at an angle , so make a groove in the wood at the same angle under the receiver.
