I am considering a purchase of a Norinco M14 but have a question or two...

I understand that many dealers simply don't have stock although they advertise them. How true is this, what is the availability?

It appears as if the standard package is the rifle, sling, cleaning kit, 2 5rd mags and 1 5/20 mag. I have also seen dealers offering the package with only 1 5rd mag. Are the dealers trying to make an extra buck here by keeping the extras or has the package been changed?

Would $500 be a fair price to pay considering they're aren't many around at this time?

The last batch will be available at Marstar soon. If you want one, get in touch right away. As of last notice some 70% of the shipment was spoken for.
I don't know if dealers are trying to make an extra buck by keeping the extras or not. If a dealer offers a rifle and one magazine that's what is being offered. If someone else offers a rifle with a sack of magazines that's what they are offering. Pick and choose. There was a brand new rifle on the rack at Accuracy Plus last week. Don't know what accessories it comes with. A suggestion - if you are going to mail order the rifle anyway, check and see if you can ovoid PST.

take a look in the equip exchange, there's always M14's in there, from still in the box never fired, to fully modded, shop around if you want to buy new I think marstar is the gold standard (they may have a few left from this coming shipment, not sure)

Marstar was selling them for about $400 + shipping if I remember correctly.

I see most online sales of them being about $450-ish + shipping now.

EE seems to show anywhere from $450-$600 these days.

My local gun shops have them all on for about $475+ taxes.

I suspect when availability dries up (ie marstars shippments), that the price will go up into the high 500's and low 600's .. So even buying one at $450ish now probably isn't the worst idea.

That is my impression, and as always, I've been known to be wrong :)
