People new to the platform tend to double pull the trigger...
Make sure you pull hard, and all the way...be firm it is a military weapon
And please do the safety check as at http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/91174-M14-M305-M1A-Test-after-assembly , and let us know how that goes.
Although I like the firing pin scenario, could have been stuck with grit that dropped out after firing the second round leaving no evidence.
Mine was double firing from too much grease. It sometimes triple fired. I took it apart at the range and wiped the excess grease out and cleaned the bolt off and everything was okay after that. Learned that day that a little bit goes a really long way.
Dude, should have left the post....a malfunctioning firearm is not a modified one....semi autos have been known to go full auto due to mechanical issues (even nonmilitary semis) and there is no law against that. Don't let the chicken little fairies scare you.
