I am completely new to shooting slugs.

I have 2 12g I would like to try slugs out of.

1 is the Norinco 1887, fixed cylinder bore I belive.
What type of slug would be best shot with this gun???
Pls note I dont plan on hunting with this gun, just want to try this for
Sh!ts and giggles to see what I could do.

The second is an 870 express
I most oopen i have is a modified choke, what would work with this??
If I were able to get a cylender choke what would be best??

Thanks
Jay

Extended use of slugs with ANY choke in place will cause the choke to for lack of better words, flatten out till its useless.

The modified choke on my Grizzly 12.5", the inner diameter of the choke is greater then my barrel now.

Barrels exactly as it was, its the screw in choke thats been flattened out in the muzzle.

So the lead slugs are opening up your steel barrel?

in the right situation water can cut steel....

i'm still learning so i'm not sure if my thinking is right but the slug is the same diameter as the barrel so the choke would force the lead smaller. perfect place for it to expand the steel.

Rifled slugs which I shoot mainly......are slightly over sized then the barrel, the rifling on the slug itself collapses to seal the barrel during firing so the gases stay behind the round propelling it.

Make sense?

The Brenneke & Foster type slugs are most common.
