Today the mailman brought me three of those new Norinco 1911 9mms. One for me, two for my friends.

I played with all three, shot mine.

Fit and finish is as good or better than the most recent generation of 45 Sport models. Everything is tight. Nothing wiggles or rattles.

It has extended safety and slide stop and an ambi safety. Those will get changed out on mine. Grips are better that past versions. But I will install new ones.

The mags are the same thickness as 45 ACP, but have a vertical crease to keep the 9mm shells as a vertical stack. I wonder if they could have had a slight double stack without the crease, and got an extra round in the mag?

All 3 triggers are quite heavy. One has a crisp let-off and the others two have some creep. My pistols usually get a trigger job as a matter of course, so this is not upsetting.

The slide spring is quite heavy. I tried 3 different loads. The mildest would not run the slide. It works in my other 9mm pistols.

I opened the box, wiped the exterior with a paper towel and shot the gun. No cleaning or lubing. It worked just fine.

All 3 loads grouped well at 20 yards. 135gr groups are a bit high, but bang on for wind. The 125 gr load was perfect. Recoil feels a bit lighter than my other pistols.

Next week it gets new sights (fibre front and adjustable rear) and new flush controls, and a trigger job.

The two mags that came with it look very good. I shot my targets using a new MecGar mag that I bought while waiting for the pistol to arrive. Other than the mild ammo not running the slide, the other loads worked perfectly. 100% feed, fire and ejection.

I am very pleased. It will hurt to turn over the other 2.

BTW, the 1911 9mm, like some of the other Norc 1911s has an extended and enlarged mag release button. I like this feature, some people don't. If you don't like it, just unscrew it. An ordinary release hides underneatth.

If you like the button, take it off and apply a dab of blue LokTite. Otherwise it falls off and gets lost.
