I was going to purchase a beavertail safety for my Norinco 1911 frame and was wondering what the frame radius is? Part is described as:

"Chip McCormick• 1911 Part • Will ONLY Fit The 1911's with .25" Frame Radius"

PM me if you have an answer.

Thanks!

The frame needs to be radiused. Been there did the grinding.

Jerry's right :)

The drop-in ones look like hell on Norincos, so the STI/Ed Brown etc. ones (and McCormick ones as well) are the best, and they need the frame tang ground, then filed, then sanded to the .25" radius, and then a fair bit of metal blending done (not to mention refinishing both frame and beavertail)... Not rocket science, but you gotta ask why I charge $100 for the labour, plus refinishing :)

CZ, if Gunnar is only charging $100, send him the frame. A botched jobbed will stare at you forever and make the resale zero. Seeing his work, his install will improve the price of your pistol that much. Get some sights you like installed while its there too. There are many parts you can fit at home. Some are not so easy especially if you don't have a milling maching.

Just make sure that the beavertail you install IS the one you want. All say that they use a 1/4" radius, however, they seldom fit in the same way on the frame. I have tried installing another beavertail and it was no where near the same profile/fit as the CMcM on there now.

You only get to blend that frame once.
