Hey guys just ordered that 1911 can am deal. I buddy let me try his and it functioned great so I couldn't pass one up. I wasn't a fan of the sights on it. I know some of ya guys have used these as a platform to build a really nice 1911. So I'm looking for advice on what sights are easy to install on this pistol. Thanks looking forward to some suggestions!
Norinco 1911 sights question.

The rear dovetail is a standard Colt 1911 dovetail. Any sight made for the Colt will fit. On some of the CanAm pistols the rear sight is in so tight it is a bugger to hammer out. My new sight pusher does it. Failing that, some needed a larger hammer. You might first consider leaving the rear sight in place.
On some of mine I left the existing sight. On others, I knocked it out and installed a taller Norinco rear sight. On others, i installed an adjustable rear sight to fit a Colt dovetail:
The front sight is a standard early Colt style staked on sight. the sight has a post sticking out the bottom that goes into a slot milled down into the slide. A pair of pliers will pry it out.
Your choice for the front is to buy a Colt Series 70 (also identified as the narrow tenon sight) and install that. Get the height that matches the rear sight. It makes for a simple and neat installation. Looks like this:
Or, you can pull off the staked on front sight and cut a dovetail for a new front sight:
There are several common front sight dovetail sizes available. I suggest you ask the gunsmith what size cutter he has or what sight he recommends before buying the dovetail type of front sight. The ones in the picture are late model Colt size dovetails. The Novak size is more common.
