I am fairly close to picking up a Norinco 1911 as my first auto and having Gunnar at Armco check it over.

Anything and everything you can tell me about your experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

Not the .45 version, but if you want to review my experiences with my NP29, do a search under my name and NP29.

I bought a brand new one and when looking it over found it to fire when slide safty was engaged and no pressure on the grip safty. Had to send it back to the dealer and had it replaced with a new one. To this day Iam still uncomfortable with the hole cocked and locked thing.

I picked up an Armco-tuned compact Norinco 1911 earlier this year and was pleasantly surprised at how well it shot. I left the sights "as is" since I found them easy enough to pick up when shooting. I had Gunnar swap out the stock grips for Pachmayrs on mine.

Positive experience with mine (from Marstar for $325). Maybe I lucked out, but the trigger isn't too bad. Changed the grips of course (those plastic baby-poo colour ones are appalling) and I quite enjoy it. Some issues with stovepiping the last (7th) round that I'm trying to address.

I had Gunnar work over my Norc 1911 .45, he does excellent work, you will not be dissapointed.

He installed a new trigger and lightened it up - it is clean and crisp - a pleasure to shoot.
Also had him drill the holes for the red dot mount and install a skeletonized hammer.

When I got it back I polished the sides, installed an STI beaver tail grip safety, bushing comp, grips and a few other goodies.
