My local gun store just put out some cases of norinco .223, which makes me wonder is some still coming in?

Its the 1120 crate for $369. Its a little more then the average which was about $300, so is this stuff really going to disappear for a wile? Should I snap it up?

Last I checked Cosco was not willing/able to bring more in. There might still be thousands of cases in Canada, tucked away in warehouses and delivery depots, but who knows how long that will last. It could take weeks or years to run out of what it already in the country.

I agree. It also lets anyone who has it, inflate the price for now, even if a shortage never really comes. One more reason to put ammo prices up.

Its a darn good thing they dont raise the ammo price EVERY long weekend like they do GAS PRICES. LOL.

Im sure this topic is a bit over discussed but has any businesses tried checking around? cosco cant be the only shipper from china??

I haven't tried it personally, but TulAmmo Canada may be a great alternative for similar prices. My Norinco 556 has been dirty and inconsistent. The 308 on the other hand has been pretty good..

Dude its Canada Ammo's bread and butter. I think if it was possible, they would know and would have checked around.

This. The importers are definitely looking for alternatives, but unless you want to buy a container ship and pay for the crew, fuel and insurance as well as find the other 500 or so containers to finish off the load we're SOL at the moment. COSCO was the only shipper willing to carry the Chinese ammo for some reason. I'd be curious to know exactly what fuelled the move.

There was a previous post claiming the red tape of entering a US port with containers of chinese ammo was the hassle, COSCO wants to go to US then Canada and back to China .. So it would appear to be logistics. We can imagine $ would change this factor, but the wholesaler would not be absorbing the extra cost, and if other factory ammo has a cheaper price point who will buy surplus ..

I do not support the theory that there is a ton of it in Canada .. Canada Ammo or Marstar would still be pushing it out the door, the problem is $.30 cent ammo is gone for now and the fact it was so available did/may have done, two things .
1. Reduced Canada's dependence on US ammo
2. Most likely prevented resellers from having " estsblished " supply contracts for the US stuff . So Canadian purchase agents are now competing for the monthly production that is not spoken for in the US

So "may" be some .223 supply problems down the road for Canada .. reloading anyone?

Who wants to go halfsies on a boat????

lol I think they frown on organizing group buys here. :)

If there's money to be made the ammo will make it's way over here, one way or another. It would be interesting to know how much a boatload of ammo costs in Shanghai.

Are group buys frowned upon? I never heard this before, but then again I haven't been here that long. Seriously though on what grounds could anyone object to what other adults decide to do amongst themselves?

You can arrange for a group buy but you need permission from the admin to arrange it on CGN
