I picked up a 1000 rounds of this steel case FMJ ammo a while back for 50 cents per round total price. Saves time by not having to make handloads and great for plinking at that price.
Groups not too bad from my 308 Zastava LKM70, about 2" at 100 meters off the benchrest. I thought I would try pulling the FMJ bullet and replace it with a soft point bullet using the same powder charge. I weighed a few of the FMJ bullets: 144.5gr, 143.8gr and 144.3gr - seems to suggest these have a nominal weight of 145gr. The powder charge is 41.5gr +/- 0.2gr.
I replaced the 145gr FMJ bullets with Hornady 130gr SP bullets and these rounds chronographed at about 2850 fps (about 100 fps more than the FMJ rounds). No issues in my rifle only.
Improved accuracy and should be a pretty decent Deer round.
