Hey guys,

So I just bought a case of 1600 Norinco .223 yellow box (non steel core) from a fellow CGN member who hadn't shot any of it. I went shooting for the first time with it today. I shot approximately 100-150 rounds of it no problem, in fact I was fairly impressed however, on the second last round of the day I had a case separation about half way down the case. The last round was jammed into the case (it did not slam fire thank god) and was a real pain in the ass to get out. Should I be worried about this happening frequently? That is a very dangerous situation and I have actually had a case separation except with a slam slam fire in another gun and it literally totaled the gun.

On a side note this was out of my bullpup rifle so if it did blow up that would likely not end well...

Norinco ammo is sketchy. Bought a case from CanAm and noticed that it's loaded pretty hot and inconsistent. And on top of that, the brass quality is questionable. That's a receipe for catastrophic malfunction. To make a long story short, I shot 2 boxes and sold the case

I have had two tear in half being ejected from a VZ58 and one tear in half when pulling the neck sizing die thru it.

All seem to work perfectly in a Norc AR and quite accurate????

I had bought some Norc 5.56 in the yellow boxed back in the 90's and now just ordered a case. Found the loads to be hot and brass weak. Lot's of split necks. As a result I buy it for shooting only and not reloading. Great for having fun, accurate enough and resell the scrap brass at the recycle yard.
