Norinco 5.56 ball ammo. too hot for .223 bolt?

Hello, I recently bought a crate of ammo (norinco box of 1120) 5.56. (55 grain ball) I thought it would work fine in my .223 remington bolt guns. turns out 70% of the time, im not igniting the primers. ( 3 different guns)
figured i would try pulling the bullets and changing the primers for some commercial ones.
While apart, i weighed the powder charges. ranged from 26.0 to 26.2 grains. oal 2.250"
I have read that the norinco ammo can be quite a hot load.
i reduced the load to 25 grains and reseated the bullets with new primers.
Has anyone else played around with the chinese powder? any idea what it would be equivalent to?

I get occasional light strikes using CJ 95 through my Mossber MVP. As for the powder question I doubt anyone will have data considering the source. If you are worried about it being too hot you could back off the charge a bit...
 
Its def a lot hotter than 22gr of imr3031 behind 55gr FMJ Hornady's. The impact shift at 200 yards is something like 3"!!

Bolt actions are some of the most stout actions and a "hot" Norinco 55gr bulk stuff will not phase it. I shoot Norinco through my MVP all the time without any overpressure signs....and it actually groups really nice!
 
Works fine in my bolts. by fine I mean 2-3'' groups in sub moa rifles (using handloads/better ammo). Goes bang every time for me tho..
 
Quit playing with a powder that you nor anybody else have any idea what it is. Aside from being decidedly unsafe, it will have no effect whatsoever on the primers. And 2.250" is too long for a 55 grain bullet. The OAL isn't a big deal though.
If you rifle isn't hitting the primer hard enough it needs another firing pin spring. Wouldn't bother with that for low end milsurp ammo though. This is one of the many reason not to buy a case of ammo without first trying a box.
 
It is a little hot but works fine in both bolt guns I use. The odd FTF from a light strike but considering everything there is nothing wrong with it. I have shot under 2 inches. Shot about 2 inches with a DPMS the other day and when the Timney trigger is installed bet it will do much better.

Brass is soft and I just reloaded some today using W735 as a friend on here has had good luck using that powder.

Good cheap ammo.

I tried 3 rounds of norc in my NEA 7.5" and bang double feed cleared did it again on the third round too. Those were the only firing malfunctions I had yesturday other than the forward assist knob flew off somewhere. Managed to find the spring tho. Contacting NEA now

I opened my 7.5 the other day to find the gas key loose.. Torqued and staked it myself lol

I've not had trouble with norc ammo in it, other than meh accuracy and blinding fireballs (which are a hoot nonetheless)
 
After alot of trouble with Canadian made stuff I'm done suppporting the Canadian market. 4 years with my norc 6k rounds still no issues
