Hi
Does anyone know if that Norinco "white box" 5.56mm 55gr ammo have annealed case necks. Most of this stuff is marked 1995. Is there a way to check to know if it is annealed other than a discolored neck. My Lapua necks stand out to the rest of the case. These ones, not so much.
Thanks.

It just about has to be annealed. Otherwise the neck would crack.

I have reloaded the Norc 5.56 cases several times without issue, so am sure it is annealed.

If the brass is polished after annealing, you can no longer see the discoloration.

Just about every cartridge factory in the world knew by 1920 that case necks had to be annealed, or the ammo would crack in storage within 10 years. It would be pretty inconceivable that the Chinese could have missed the memo.

The fact that the necks aren't cracked after 24 years is probably the best proof we can offer.

The older yellow box ammo I didn't like it gave severe primer blowback effectively locking up the firing pin and bolt hole on a Stevens 200.I had to take it apart and remove primer pieces.Never used it again.Chinese QC at it's best all over and nowhere at the same time.Worked fine in an AR.As I recall case capacity was less than NA ammo and primer pockets varied.

I cracked open a tin to have a look and it appears to be annealed.

Good hot ammo for the ARs. Spits fireballs out of my 10.5" CQB build :p
