Hey

First off sorry if this sounds stupid haha but Im just wondering if anyone has used the surplus norinco 7.62/308 in a bolt action and if so how it functions?
I recently bought a bunch and I only see people shooting it out of semis to be honest so I have no idea.

Thanks

My Savage 10 PC didn't like it, hard to extract after the second shot so I stopped using it. My guess is because the steel cases don't shrink as much as brass after firing, they were too tight in the chamber after firing. OkayShooters Mauser most likely has a larger chamber like most military rifles.

Hmm, I wanted to use it out of one of my savages, it would just be nice to have some cheap ammo for the semis and the bolt. Either way I was planning on trying it , only one way to find out for sure haha.
I just wanted to see how everyone else's experience was first so I know what to expect

Thanks

My M14 likes the stuff, but I would hesitate to use it in my Cooper Model 54...

It's cheap ammo for plinking, conduct yourself accordingly...

Cheers
Jay

My savage likes it,

Out of 1000 rounds of norc 7.62x51 only had one round that wouldn't extract, had to tap it out with the cleaning rod... No problems since.

I have used the Norc ammo in my Savage with a tight match chamber...1.630"...at a Petawawa PR Match. Yeah, sometimes they were hard to extract and I did drop a few shots. And even once I had to borrow an oprod to force the case out (while Barney stood and laughed). However, it shot pretty accurately for the price, and my partner and I came 2nd.

I have Norinco 7.62x51.
Shoots fine, sometimes the neck splits, and the bolt seems a little tight, but it shoots fine.
Mine is a savage 110 (model 10 with scope) from ~1990.

Are you ever in the Ottawa area? I can give you some to try.

No issues with Norinco 308 ammo in my Zastava LKM70. Groups around 3" off the bench. Good for off-hand practice.
