Is the Norinco 7.62x51 ammo good to go in the M14? Are there any issues to be concerned about with this ammo? Thansk.

Which ammo are you talking about? The 7.62x39 or 7.62x51? Both are good for general plinking.

Oh. That's good stuff. I use it in my M305 all the time. It'll surprise you with its accuracy considering how cheap it is.

Any pic's of this Norinco 7.62x51 stuff? How much is it? Who has it?
I bought some from Lever Arms. Don't know if they have any more in stock. Give them a call.

The ammo is copper-washed steel-cased stuff with FMJ spitzer bullets.

The stuff works. I found it to be a little dirtier than most other ammo I have used. Also seemed a little under powered, although I must admit that I'm basing this on felt recoil and case ejection, not by measuring velocity. Also, accuracy was mediocre in my opinion. The good news is that it's inexpensive, non-corrosive and goes bang every time.

Hmmmmm..if Lever Arms has it, I think they wanted $9.50 or so for a box of 20.

Marstar shows Winchester factory 147gr, FMJ for $10.47 per box of 20

The Winchester stuff might be a better deal....
It was cheaper by the case. Besides, I live in the Lower Mainland so it's better for me to drive to Lever Arms and pick it up instead of paying outrageous fees for shipping ammo since ammo is so damned heavy and you have the hazmat fee too.

I'm in Abbotsford, so Lever Arms is convenient as well, just want the best bang for the buck. If Norinco stuff is reliable, and there has been no report problems with case separation or anything like that, then I will give it a try.

It's definitely worth a try. It's great for learning to use your M305. I can whack the gong at the back of the Poco range all day long with it using iron sights.

Sweet! I will try some Norinco stuff then. Too bad no one carries bulk Port 7.62x51 locally.....Hmmm CanAm?????:)
It pops up here and there at the gun shows around town. Just keep your eyes open and you'll find some. I bought a can of Australian 7.62x51 at the 2-day HACS show in Coquitlam last year. It came on stripper clips and was packed in bandoliers inside the ammo can. Guns, Girls and Fast Bikes often has a table full of M14 stuff at the shows. That's where I bought my ammo from.

Oh, and if you do come across GG&FB's table, pick yourself up one of those M14 gas cylinder wrenches. It'll make your life a ton easier when you're disassembling your M305 for cleaning.

No Port left on the surplus market that I have seen. Don't worry, I have some good stuff in the works for you M305 shooters. Maybe even a few tracers.
Neato. But I'll pretend I didn't hear that last part.

Actually if you're shooting up to 400m...It is quite good! I could see clearly the swirl so they are are a bit slower than conventional or match for sure.
I give it a thumbs up! For $10.00/20rds can't go wrong gents.
