Good evening! I picked up a full case of Norinco "CJ96" head stamped 7.62x51 ammo from CanandianAmmo and tried it in my Norinco M14 today.

My M14 has a few upgrades (springs, shims, etc) but original barrel, trigger, etc. I was using a Tasco Redot on a UTG rail for a sight. Shooting on a bench using a pack as a rest. Temp was warm..27C but calm.

I must say, I am impressed!

At 50m I shot this group that I was OK with, but I think I could have done better:

At 100m I was very impressed...for ball ammo! My red dot just filled the black of the target. Given this group is about the same size of the 50m group, I would say I was not up to my usual game when shooting at 50.

Not as tight as my best handloads...but certainly good enough !!! With a good scope on the rifle I bet I could easily shoot under 2MOA.

Now I have to figure out if I should buy one more case...or perhaps two! ;-)

My last range time, my m305 2009 was showing signs of warn out chamber for handloads, i do not have any head space gauges. So I picked up a 520 rounds at Pd . Great service at the store. anyway the 7.62x51 bullet fits more snug in the chamber, so my rifle should be good for a while. At the shop some young shooter bought a new M1a standard , but he was taped out he had get his dad to come back and buy ammo for him. Spoiled brat.
