I would like to get some opinions of Norinco's version of the Remington 870. Does anyone own one of these? I'm looking at the Norinco 18.5 inch barrel. Thanks!

I haven't owned one, but I can assure you they are just as good as the Reminton 870's. They are super reliable and every bit as good as the Remington.

Some may try to argue that its a knock off and if you spend a bit more you can get the real deal, but some don't have that much money.

If you don't care about which brand it is, and care only about how it functions, buy in confidence...they're just as good as the Remington product, and you can put on plenty of after market stuff as well!

If you plan on switching up barrels you will have to get the HP9-1 with the 14" barrel and standard length mag tube. The mag tube on the other Norc models are to long and will not accept Remington 870 barrels.

i have a few of them as well a bunch of remingtons
ither then the ejector and exstractor they seem as good as the remmingtons.
Oww well ther is the bead site that allways snaps off and the crapy plastic stocks and the carppay butt pad...

N.B.: I speak only of the 14" version HP9-1. I haven't used the 18.5" version.

Cons
It uses the late-style magazine spring retainer.
It requires modification to employ a magazine extension.
It does not have the Flexi-tab components.
The bead thread is non-standard.
It cannot enter the USA. Ever.
Snobs may shun you.

Pros
The quality is very good.
The finish is better than the Remington Express versions.
Most 870 parts fit.
The 14" version is widely available.
The price is right.
Snobs may shun you.

I got the HP9-1 instead of the 18.5" barrel because it can take any remington barrel. So if you decide to go duck hunting, switch the barrel to something long.

all of the newer 870 requier the mod to use a mag extension as well

Put a mag extension on mine with no mods at all...

The modification, to which we referred, is for those late-model magazine spring retainer detents in the magazine tube. These detents should be removed. (A reamer works nicely.)
These detents, if not removed, may interfere with the movement of either spring or shell through the magazine tube at this intrusive high point.

Or...you can just take your chances.

+1 on what he said
if you use a +1 have the Mod done, if your handy just drill them out slow then work the area with a dremil and then touch up with cold blue, its a nice easy way to fix things.
