Norinco 97 Trench Gun copy.. any good?

also like hens teeth ;)

They haven't been available new, to my knowledge in all the time I've been a member here, and when a used one goes up, it's for a substantial premium on the original price. I've heard good things though, slam firing apparently works fairly well. Those who own them seem to hold on to them, so if you can loosen someone's grip on theirs, good for you, go for it!

we have a whole shipment of factory new units at our version of Marstar ( Guncity )

made to better quality than the older ones, with actual walnut stocks

$1099 NZ tho.. bit expensive and i woudnt be able to find the bayonet for one either.. which is a 50% deal-breaker

Your version actually has guns to sell ??
Not just pretty pictures on a web site ! :D
LOL

They're good guns. I don't really know how much to compare to originals since I've never handled the originals.

My only complaint was some pins around the trigger gradually drifting loose. They never really went any futher than protruding, but I didn't like it. I paid $350 for mine and sold it for the same. I used it as a smoothbore buckshot gun for deer one season and it worked well.

Depending on the cost of cut down win 97's in NZ (here they can be quite reasonably priced), it may be worth it for you to have a front lug and heat guard made instead of spending $1000 on a norc. I don't remember, but I think the head guard just clipped or slipped on, and the front lug clamped on with crossbolts that pulled the milled lugs and barrel sleeve together. I've been wanting to try something similar like the mossberg trench gun designed for navy use.

Solid gun. Sleek, points well, fun as hell. Makes an 870 feel bulky/pudgy. I actually almost like my trench gun more than the tactified 870...even if it is a norc.

I've heard that the Norc steel using modern methods can actually be stronger than the older originals.

Originals go for $1000-$1500. Wouldn't pay that much for a norc.

Bayonets go for $100 at local gunshows I've seen them.

Well the markup is outright robbery at $1000 for a norc...

It would be your call if you want one that bad. They ARE nice guns, but what are the other shotguns you could buy for $1000?

You're getting into the fairly high end brand name guns at that price, but I guess you would have to compare to whats available and at what cost in NZ.

At $1000 in NZ you're looking at mossberg 930, steoger 2000, rem 1187 and there abouts ..
parallel imported firearms are cheaper, and represent the actual cost of the firearm, but cant parallel a norc unfortunately.
